Who Are You Electing the Next Commander in Core?

core processorThe water cooler talk is getting intense these days. With promises of new and better results from the candidates, are certain employees’ passions about one frontrunner over the other evident? Are some openly begging for a change in system for the betterment of the whole? You might think I’m talking about the Presidential election and that might be correct. However, what I am really talking about is your credit union data processing system. Finding your next credit union core system partner shares some parallels to our political system.

One commonality for every election is that each party feels they are the right choice, which makes the other parties involved the wrong one. Each party plans their campaigns and the great marketing onslaught begins, telling the public whom they should or shouldn’t choose. This is not too far removed from what you experience when looking for a new credit union core system.

Just as we need to be mindful when reading the daily headlines, political polls, and social media posts, proceed with caution when determining the best option for a new core partner.

We don't believe there is a best credit union system, but there is a system that is best for each credit union. Remember, no one understands your needs better than you, and no one is going to look out for your interests more than you. Consider what FLEX customers have to say on how selecting the right core processing system can impact your credit union.

The pattern for choosing a core system is not that far removed from the steps that one should consider when voting for a President. Consider these key factors when looking for a new credit union data processing system:

  • Stability and growth in their industry/job history.
  • A clear record of achievement with goals, visions and a culture that matches your own.
  • A comfort level with their experience, strengths and customer service style.
  • Checking their references; do your homework.

John F. Kennedy wasn’t thinking about credit union core systems when he said, “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer.” As your quest to find a credit union core technology that meets your needs evolves, remember that each “candidate” is going to feel that they are the right choice. However, only you will know who is right or wrong for your credit union by participating in and conducting your own due diligence. This effort should yield the result of who offers core system efficiency to your staff and members.
