Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union Continues History of Innovation Conversion to FLEX Core Processing on Track

Pocatello, ID (April, 2013) -- From its humble beginning as Idaho’s first credit union in 1935, the Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union’s (PRFCU) maintains a rich tradition of resourceful innovation in order best meet the needs of its members. As illustrated from an historical section of the PRFCU website, the earliest deposits from Idaho rail workers and their families and associates were kept in a railroad employee’s lunch box.

Today, PRFCU’s management and staff conscientiously work to keep their core mission alive to serve the personal financial needs of their members efficiently and vigorously. Since late 2011, the credit union has been led by CEO Richard Ely and his senior management team including John Cole, COO and Diane Dehl, VP of Human Resources/Administration. Together they have restructured Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union resulting in improved profitability and member services. Because technology is such a critical component of customer service and can be cost consuming, PRFCU found it necessary to re-assess their core system.

“When we first started looking into converting to a new core processor our main goal was to save money. We began by evaluating all of our vendors to seek cost savings and it was amazing how that process led us to FLEX,” reflects Richard Ely. “After seeing a presentation of what FLEX had to offer in the way of product, technology and service, we quickly realized that we are also upgrading to a superior over all solution in both areas of innovative technology and functionality.”

“We happily welcome Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union to FLEX because of our similar objectives. We are excited for members and staff to find cutting-edge integrated core technology that is expansive with simplified operations as FLEX minimizes the need for third-party vendors, contracts, training and risk,” said Sean Holcomb, Senior Vice President of FLEX. “We are excited for PRFCU to realize the FLEX advantages and are confident that they will find increased efficiencies and cost savings.”

PRFCU will convert to the FLEX System in the fall of 2013. “We are very happy for what the future will bring with our new relationship with FLEX,” says Richard Ely who came to the credit union from Idaho State University Federal Credit Union as Sales and Service Manager. It was there that he supervised multiple branch managers and improved the sales culture. Prior to joining the credit union industry and dating back to 1980, Richard worked in various banking positions including consumer lender, mortgage lender, and branch manager.

In recent years, credit union industry personnel ranked FLEX first among competing vendors for customer satisfaction. FLEX now serves nearly 300 credit unions in locations across the country, including Alaska, Hawaii, and the Eastern Caribbean. The company enjoys established relationships with all regulatory agencies, corporate credit unions and major industry partners.
